Resurrection of Christ – Bloch

The glory of Easter Sunday is exquisitely captured in the brush strokes of C. Bloch in this image. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is His ultimate triumph over death, and it is the main point in Christian belief that gives validity to the previous suffering and Crucifixion of Jesus.

Two angels kneel in adoration on either side of the glorified Christ, while the iconic Easter lilies flow out of the tomb. Unlike other Carl Bloch paintings, the Resurrection of Christ is not bursting with color; the artist places more emphasis on the purity of the glory of the moment.
