Jesus Walking on Water and Saving St. Peter

the Lord with drowning disciple

This is an antique image of Jesus walking on the water and saving Saint Peter from sinking into the ocean.

The image is mostly dark, with the dark sky and sea in the background. Also in the background, on the right side of the image, is the dark shape of a fishing boat.

Christ stands on the water on the left side of the painting’s foreground. The Savior wears a bright white robe, a light blue sash, and a bright red cloak, which is fastened with a gold clasp. The Savior has shoulder-length, brown hair and a beard. The faint outline of a halo surrounds His head. Christ looks down and to His left side at St. Peter, holding the apostle's right hand with His left hand. He raises His right hand in the air.

Peter has sunk into the water so that only his upper body is visible. He wears a brown robe. The apostle has white hair and a beard. With his right hand, Peter clasps Christ’s hand. Peter holds on to the bottom of the Savior’s cloak with his left hand. Reassured, he gazes up at Jesus.
