This is a restored image of the masterful painting of the Last Judgment, by French sixteenth-century painter, Jean Cousin. In the upper half of the painting, Jesus Christ is seated in the clouds with the saints and angels. Christ has pale skin and shoulder-length, brown hair. He wears a pale red cloak around His waist. He holds up a silver scythe with His left hand. The Savior's feet rest on a globe. Below the globe, some angels hold up a large, open book. Below the book, an angel holds up a cross. Colorful groups of angels and saints are gathered in the sky below and around Our Lord. A circle of white light surrounds Christ. The sky is filled with white and blue clouds. The lower half of the painting depicts the earth. There are buildings on either side of the painting. Partially clothed human figures cover the ground. A vast plain, covered with human bodies, stretches into the background.
