Exhumation of St. Hubert – Weyden
In the 9th century, St. Hubert's
body was exhumed in St Peter's in Liège showing that his body had not decayed at all since death. This proved his sainthood to the bishops, clergy and onlookers.
This is a companion artwork to the Dream of Pope Sergius
