It is Consummated – Tissot

This final moment of the suffering of Christ during His crucifixion on Mount Calvary was painted by J. Tissot. Unlike most renditions of Jesus on the Cross, we see the Trinity in Heaven, as well as many of the ancient prophets of the Old Testament awaiting release from Limbo after the act of Redemption for mankind. Meanwhile, back on earth, the holy women and St. John mourn the death of Christ as He says His final words before dying: "It is Consummated."
