Jesus Sleeping during the Tempest – Tissot

Collections: Jesus Christ

Category: Miracles-Life

This artwork by J. Tissot shows Christ sleeping on a fishing boat during a storm on the Sea of Galilee. You'll notice the fishermen becoming very alarmed as the storm worsens. Shortly afterwards, His Apostles would awake Christ, and He would command the storm to stop.

And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that the ship was filled. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, sleeping upon a pillow; and they awake him, and say to him: Master, doth it not concern thee that we perish? MK 4:37-38
