St. George, the Princess and the Dragon – Tintoretto


Saint George, Patron saint of England and Catalonia, was a Roman soldier who was martyred under the Emperor Diocletian. He is portrayed here as rescuing a beautiful lady from a dragon. The dead body of the dragon's final victim lies on the ground near the dragon. Artwork by Tintoretto
